AWS Community Day events are community-led conferences: planned, organized, and delivered by local AWS user group leaders and ambassadors. They offer a by-the-community, for-the-community learning experience, featuring technical workshops, discussions, hands-on help, and networking — all focused on real-world AWS use cases and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing.

Best of all, they're free or low-cost.

What Is AWS?

Maybe you don't know what AWS stands for?

AWS is Amazon Web Services. According to Amazon, it's "the world's most comprehensive and broadly adopted cloud, offering over 200 fully featured services from data centers globally. Millions of customers — including the fastest-growing startups, largest enterprises, and leading government agencies — are using AWS to lower costs, become more agile, and innovate faster."

Who Should Attend Community Days?

AWS Community Day is for anyone who uses AWS. You don't need to be AWS certified to get value from the topics provided. Probably the people who will get the most value from these community days are those IT professionals who are hands-on, helping implement AWS, migrate to it, or handle regular administration.

The topics themselves for each of the Community Days vary. Look at the agenda to decide whether you should attend.

Why Attend?

There are a lot of reasons to attend AWS Community Days. As mentioned, it's free or low-cost. So, it's a great way to gather information for little to no money.

In addition, you'll …

  • Learn from real users. Sessions are led by developers, architects, engineers, and community experts sharing real-world solutions, practical experiences, and best practices.

  • Get hands-on help. Bring your issues and get solutions from others who've grappled with the same problems.

  • Network. Meet other AWS users, explore best practices from other people, and get access to experts.

  • Develop professionally. Discover emerging trends, tools, and strategies.

AWS Community Days are just one more educational tool available.

Who Organizes These Events?

Every Community Day is produced by a local advisory board — volunteers from local user groups. They handle everything from speaker selection and promotion to logistics and gaining sponsorship.

Organizers often collaborate with AWS for sponsorship support. Sometimes experts also sponsor events. Rego Consulting was a proud sponsor for the Midwest AWS Community Day.

It's a mini-conference by the users, for the users.
