The Judicial Council of California “lifts and shifts” processes into ServiceNow without a major overhaul.

Company: Judicial Council of California
Industry: State Government
ServiceNow Use: Portfolio Project Management

The Challenge:

Prior to engaging with Rego Consulting, the Judicial Council of California was doing much of their demand management process manually, outside of any centralized tool. Though they did utilize the Planview platform for some tasks, their license was set to expire. Rego’s main challenge was to lift and shift processes into ServiceNow without major reinvention or overhaul.

The Solution:

Rego recommended a multi-sprint implementation to ensure that existing processes were accounted for and that the project management team was trained and able to migrate data for existing projects into ServiceNow. The process entailed the following:

  • Conduct an Environmental Factors analysis and estimate alignment to stories
  • Core Setup of project and portfolio management (PPM), Security, Core Object Configuration, Unit Testing, and Validation
  • Advanced build of supporting functionality, ACLs, Dashboard/Reporting
  • Development and delivery of customized training materials for ongoing success

The Results:

With Rego’s help, the Judicial Council successfully brought demand management in ServiceNow for initial requests and demand evaluation and are now following project management best practices in PPM with project templates and some standardization.

Rego met the estimated go-live dates with over a week to spare and adapted to virtual training needs by holding multiple online classes, including office hours for ad hoc questions. Much to the Judicial Council’s delight, Rego also came in well under their estimated hours and budget. What’s next? Collaborating together on some quick-win features such as a purchase order data import and other various platform consulting needs to build on the Council’s new-found momentum.
